Real Fandom Joy

In any genre of fandom be it sci fi, anime, westerns, whatever, you run into a lot of jerks and a lot of drama queens who manage to put a sour taste in your month even with something you love.  Godzilla and kaiju are my favorite of all fandoms, ever since I was young enough to enjoy movies and media, and I love Godzilla Fest, but somewhere along the way, especially getting into Facebook groups, it became really clear just how many spiteful, abusive jackasses can exist even in a niche fandom like this.
But this year especially it came home to me that there's a couple of things that really keep the fandom from rotting for me in spite of how much crap there is in the annoying pool of snobby fanboys, and it was A: the joy I always get in sharing it with my mentally challenged brother and how Godzilla really has brought us closer, and B: the sheer joy of cosplaying for children.  I have never had more fun than dressing up as a monster, a robot, a character from Toho movies and having little kids running up to me all excited wanting their picture taken with their favorite kaiju heroes.  That is an irreplaceable feeling of epicness, that no stupid whiny fanboy, idiot moderator or admin or any other frustrating stain on the fandom can erase, and for that I sincerely thank God because it is a beautiful gift.
If anyone out there feels upset because there's an element in the kaiju world that makes you upset or angry, someone who grates on you....just remember the joyful parts, because there's always the good that started you on your love of Godzilla and Japanese monsters.  The kids really do remind you how awesome it is to love giant monsters and your niche.  I also am grateful for you guys who follow the art and the comics, because obviously sharing my art and comics is something else that gives me a lot of joy, giving gifts to the fans who like me just want to take that pleasure in the Big G.
